On Friday we met the Beihl family at Europe Park and then moved on to PSU's Oval. All the kids were great, and we got a kick out of Carson's constant reply of "Barnacles!" every time we asked him to smile - he's a SpongeBob fan. Each one of these kids had such a great personality so it was more than a pleasure to spend the evening with them. Although, apparently we weren't suppose to be at PSU that night - they had some fancy dinner going on - but they were nice enough to let us go shoot a few shots out of everyone's way.

Quick update.
Take a look at the previous post. I've put up a before and after of Devin's senior yearbook shot. This is an example of some basic retouch we do for the prints that get ordered. At the smaller size it's a little hard to see what all goes into it, but the larger the print ordered the more that every little detail counts.
On a side note we are shooting some outdoor shots of four kids Friday night. Should be a lot of fun.

Trying things out
Since Jerime & I have been working on new lighting techniques, I decided to take our daughter out for a shoot this afternoon. As we've told a million people, the hardest kid to shoot pictures of is our own. Just as I suspected, she was less than cooperative, but I did the best I could. Above are just a couple of ones I pulled from our shoot. Next time I think I'll wait until after she's had a nap before trying to take her picture.

Motivation.

I guess you could say I've been motivated today.
I woke up today at 5 a.m. and left the house an hour later to take some pictures. I was hoping it would be foggy this morning, but no such luck. This morning was the first time I've seen the sun come up in, well, a long time. I'm not much of a morning person, although I would like to be. After 3 weeks of getting up at 6 a.m. 5 days a week for morning classes I may become a morning person yet.
I put this photo and a couple others up on flickr check them out and feel free to leave some feedback.

Another week another train pic.
Well I'm done with one week of classes and feel pretty good about it. I'll feel better when I'm a little further along in the semester though. I'm sure midterms will be her before I know it though.
This is another train picture taken several months ago. It's a Kansas City Southern train. Here is a little history on KCS, courtesy of Wikipedia, you might find interesting.
The Southern Belle was a named passenger train service offered by Kansas City Southern Railway (KCS) from the 1940s through the 1960s, running between Kansas City, Missouri and New Orleans, Louisiana.
The service was inaugurated on September 2, 1940. To promote the new train, KCS held a beauty contest to find Miss Southern Belle a young woman whose image would be used in advertising materials system wide. Local competitions were held before the train's launch in all of the cities that the KCS served. The ultimate winner of the competition, Margaret Landry Moore, was the winner of the local competition in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was selected as Miss Southern Belle at the final competition in New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 24, 1940. She briefly became a screen actress, being most famous for her cameo as Teresa Guadalupe in The Leopard Man (1943).
The last run of the Southern Belle was on November 2, 1969.
